BUSINESS ECONOMICS- A PROMISING COURSE

The Department of Business Economics, University of Delhi has also initiated BA(Hons)Business Economics course from 1995 (earlier they were having Masters course only). While the BA level course was initiated only at Bhim Rao Ambedakar College in 1995, at present it is being offered in following ten colleges:
1. Bhim Rao Ambedkar College
2. College of Vocational Studies
3. Gargi College
4. Lakshmibai College
5. Maharaja Agresen College
6. Ram Lal Anand College (Evening)
7. Shivaji College
8. Shri Guru Gobind Singh College of Commerce
9. Sri Guru Nanak Deg Khalsa College
10. Sri Guru Tegh Bahadur Khalsa College

The duration of Course if 3 year full time, split into six semesters. There are 24 papers in all (20 compulsory + 4 optional-out of many optional subjects) Four papers will be taught in each semester. The maximum period allowed to pass the course is 5 years. Minimum pass marks are 40%. Admission criteria is marks obtained in 10+2 exam and performance in combined Entrance Test. The basic idea of the Programme is to quip the students with professional tools as well as management principals at graduation level. The course imparts comprehensive knowledge in diversified fields of Economics, Statistics, Quantitative Technologies, Finance, International Trade, Marketing, Computers, Entrepreneurship and Family Business, Environment Economics, Business Growth and Strategy among others. After completing the course, students can seek employment in Corporate Houses, Consultancy Firms, Research Institutions etc. Otherwise one can also go for Masters Degree of Business Economics which will further increase his chances of higher placement.

The study of commerce subjects includes subjects like accounting, statistics and economics. It is often selected by students for the doors it opens to a wide variety of career options.
